After a spirited pre-season, the Metro Revellers coaching staff has settled on the team line-ups for the opening round of the Parkville Netball open-age and under-17s competitions.
A fiery training session on Tuesday night was the last chance for many to impress after several weeks of pre-season. With spots up for grabs, general match-play saw fantastic commitment from Gabby Bassi, with the wing defence putting herself in harm’s way on multiple occasions. Strong performances from Gina Blake and Jacky Rooney solidified their positions in the Division II side, while newcomers Emily Aitken, Ally Blease and Tanya Beaumont put forward their cases for selection.
In the later training session, the under-17s saw a fantastic turnout, with 26 girls attending training. Bela Hartman and Holly Pugliese put on a show, playing on each other in goal defence and goal attack respectively. Aimee Harris continued her exceptional pre-season, while youngsters Georgia Padden, Katia Dossis and Maddie Usher showed positive form from the under-15s side.
With some players still away on holiday or unavailable for training, the coaching staff have put together the open-age sides and the under-17 teams. The sides are subject to change depending on availability and form. The under-15 sides will be confirmed at a later date.
